Space Derby Monday Dec. 15
Caleb's scout troop did a space derby. Caleb's rocket is the green one. It is a little hard to see it moving. I should have been in a different seat. The funniest part of the video is Caleb's reaction at the end. He is used to finishing third and fourth in these kind of events. He came in second in this race and was VERY pleased.

Unit Celebration
This will hopefully be the first of many pictures from our unit 2 celebration night. The kids began our celebration by singing a tribute to our troops. This unit they spent most of their time studying wwii. The kids then did a recitation of FDR's war declaration speech. All the kids, except the three younger ones, had a few lines in the speech. The kids then took turns presenting something that they had worked on for this unit. Kaity showed her Hindenburg, Addy showed her paper doll family, and Caleb showed the flags that he had made. They then finished up the night with the song White Christmas.

That Hot Thing!
One night coming home we got in the car and Kaity asked... Can you turn the hot thing on I am cold? It took us a minute to figure out the hot thing was the car heater. Also that same night coming home Addy told us that a teacher of hers wanted her dad to sing next week at AWANAs. She told the teacher we only sing if we have to!
Marriage Proposal
Kaity had her first marriage proposal, of sorts, after cubbies last Wednesday! A little boy in her class, who was walking in front of us, told his dad... I am going to marry her... meaning kaity! His dad sort of chuckled and said we start young in this family.
Christmas Craft Day
This past Monday was our Christmas Craft day for our home school group GRACE. The kids enjoyed making several crafts, eating lunch with their friends and topped the day off singing in a nursing home. GRACE will be going to the St. Lucia festivities in Lindsburg on Dec. 13. As a way for the kids to better understand this holiday Mrs. Edwards, a great friend of our family and fellow GRACE mom, opened craft day with reading a book about St. Lucia day. Our kids and the Edward kids dressed up in St. Lucia costumes.

Busy Weekend
ZZZzzzzzz....Man are we tired. This holiday weekend packed a punch. After the lazy Thanksgiving meal and R&R on Friday, we hit the ground running Saturday morning. The family spent 3 hours at dance practice. Wow this was a blast because we got to dance with some of the more advanced dancers. We finally got home in time to eat, get cleaned up and off to church we go. This weekend at church we performed a vingette in the church atrium. The sermon series is titled "The Word Became Flesh". What a powerful message. Our skit setting was a family "The German Five" spending an evening together reading and worshipping. We were in our PJ's (YIKES) and we read the story about Christ's birth then we sang songs to baby Jesus. We spent some time decorating the family tree and then reading a wonderful book by Max Lucado. The story we read was about a lamb named Joshua that was lame. In the end he was the farm animal that kept baby Jesus warm in the manger. We did this all three services.
After church on Sunday, we had drama practice with some high schoolers and a few adults. We are working on a black light pantomime...EXCITING! After finishing up practice, we went over to a friends house to celebrate Erich's birthday. Do you see the lovely hat? It was adorned with unicorns, stars, and a lovely sheer vail! What a sport, you wouldn't catch me dead in that thing! We had pizza and a wonderful red velvet cake...Oh did I tell you Tonya and I were super sore from the three hours of dancing. Our calves are still on fire 3 days later! Can't wait to do it again next week!!
Also this weekend we rearranged our house for several hours to put up our tree just to end up in the same setup. We put the tree up, then we moved the girls downstairs to the basement. We are making an office/school room out of their old room and then making a partition for some privacy in the basement. They needed more space.
