Before and After...Kitchen Style!

Well, on top of the 4th/birthday party, playing for three church services, cooking a brisket (YUM! YUM!) and going to a reunion party, this weekends project consisted of updating a very colorful kitchen. I am sure the 70's were a great time in the history of America, but the color palette back then...well...lets just say it was interesting. As you can see from these pictures, we had a very beautiful shade of a pinkish/mauve laminate and back splash. Wow, tasty. Well to follow the Tuscan theme, we decided to go for some earthy tones. The first picture is a close up of the technique we used. We applied a strong bonding primer and then painted our top coat. Then we added color using a sponge. This picture is of one of the corners in our kitchen. We began the back splash but decided to finish the counter tops before going any further on it. Now that the final coat of polyurethane has been applied to the counter tops, after it dries, we will be adding an additional layer of puddy to complete a stucco texture. We then will paint it the lightest highlight in the 3 colors chosen. We will then add a darker glaze to add some depth. Once the back splash is complete, we will post some pictures. Hope you enjoy!

It looks like you redecorated the blog as well as the counter-top! I like the new look. You're doing a nice job.
